Testing your broadband speed can identify potential problems and let you know if the speed you are getting matches the speed your provider is 'saying' you should be getting.
To give you an idea of speeds, the average we have found in the Berwick upon Tweed area for a home user is:
-
Download: 2500 Kbps
-
Upload: 385 Kbps
We have found a lot slower/faster speeds. If you feel you should be getting a faster connection then do the following:
-
Run this test over a 2 week period
-
Take readings at different times of the day
-
Phone your provider with your readings and tell them you would like faster speeds
Your provider can sometimes 'upgrade' your speed for 'free' and we have found on occassion they can identifiy wrong settings or faulty lines to improve your speed. Always worth a go!
Happy Computing!
